MPs seeking security to go to their constituencies

In southern Sri Lanka, parliamentarians have demanded special security for their constituencies.

The Colombo media has reported that members of the ruling backbench are in talks to submit a special request to the Speaker to take special action in this regard.

Amidst the protests among the people, the members were unable to attend the Divisional Coordinating Committees and District Coordinating Committee meetings. Members seeking security have also said that coming to their constituencies is a dangerous situation.

It has been observed that protests have intensified especially in areas where people live based on agriculture.

The discussion of the members revealed that the farmers who are already facing a crisis in their livelihood due to the fall in income due to the fertilizer problem are still acting very angrily.

Farmers have stated that the stinking waste provided as organic liquid manure cannot be used for agriculture. The media has repeatedly reported that people are waiting with those cans until their divisional representatives arrive in their areas.
