In the parliamentary environment, the police have used tear gas on all university student union who launched a demonstration rally near the Battaramulla -Poltuwa junction.
However, protesters are still there near the entrance to the Poltuwa Junction Parliament. Temporary tents are being set up in the area to hold ongoing protests.
There are permanent barriers in the area to prevent protests. However, sources close to the matter said that university students were preparing for a protracted protest against the occupation of the area.
The area is also nicknamed "Horu Go Gama" (Village of Chasing Thieves) by students.
It is noteworthy that the protest is already taking place in front of the Prime Minister's Office and the Presidential Secretariat under the names of Gota GoGama and Maiva GoGama.
