It is in the process of stopping the scholarship given to minority students in particular. As a result, the Union government has suddenly canceled the pre-matric scholarship for minority students studying in classes 1 to 8 from 2022-2023.
Various opposition parties and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin have condemned such action of the Union Government. And Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard.
In this case, the Union BJP government has announced that it will drop the Maulana Azad National Education Assistance Fund, which was given on the basis of academic merit to minority students studying higher education in India, from this academic year.
The Tamil Nadu Minority People's Welfare Committee issued a statement saying, "The Tamil Nadu Minority People's Welfare Committee strongly condemns the Union Government's suspension of the Maulana Azad National Education Assistance for Minority Research Students.
The Union Government has announced that the Maulana Azad National Educational Assistance, which was given to minority students pursuing higher education in India on the basis of academic merit, will be waived from this academic year.
In 2006, the Prime Minister's 15-point plan was announced based on the recommendations of the Justice Rajendra Sachar Committee set up by the then United Progressive Alliance-Left Alliance government to study the educational, economic and living conditions of minorities and has been implemented since 2009.
The practice of providing scholarships to minority students at various levels from 1st class to higher education is being followed. The Maulana Azad National Education Scholarship is being given by the Union Government to the minority students who have passed the examination for admission in subjects like M.Phil, Ph.D. to continue their education.
On an average, more than 2,000 research students per year in India have been provided with the opportunity to study. But in the last 8 years, the Union BJP government has reduced this number little by little and has announced in the Parliament that it will stop the scholarship in the year 2022-23.
Union Government's reactionary, anti-minority and disregard for India's development is condemnable. It was only last month that the Union government had announced a freeze on the pre-matric scholarship for minority students studying from class 1 to class 8.
Now the grant for research students has also been stopped. Keeping the Union government in its hands, it continues to alienate the religious minorities, Muslims, Christians, Parsis, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists from India.
Dec. 17 Demonstration Union BJP government's such bigoted actions are against the overall development, unity and harmony of India. Therefore, the Union Government should immediately provide Maulana Azad National Scholarship for Higher Education and Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minority Students.
We request all democracy-minded people, movements and friends to participate in the demonstration held by the Tamil Nadu Minority People's Welfare Committee across Tamil Nadu on December 17, which is emphasizing these demands.
