URGENT APPEAL ISLANDWIDE TO THE KHATHEEBS, IMAAMS, TRUSTEES OF JUMUAH MOSQUES, ISLAMIC THEOLOGIANS OF ARABIC COLLEGES, COMMUNITY LEADERS AND TO THE PUBLIC ELDERS, BROTHERS AND SISTERS - BY SRILANKA SHARIAH COUNCIL
Dear Elders, Brothers and Sisters in Islam,
Assalamu Alaikum Warahmathullahi Wabarakathuhu.
Srilanka Shariah Council an independent islamic theologians has carried out a project islandwide a signature campaign to be collected under the #strengthenMMDA symbol in order to protect our Muslim Personal Law in our country which was implemented and enacted in the constitution as our personal rights by our forefathers.
This campaing is an urgent project seeking the support of the public to help us to collect the signatures from there allocated Jumuah Mosques on coming Fridays 30/12/2022, 07/01/2023 after Jumuah Prayers. In process we send two pdfs through social media, one is Guidance to the khatheebs- in Tamil comprising instructions to include in their sermons and educate the public about the importance of Muslim Marriage Diviorce Act and the unpleasant recommendations made by political leaders and gender equality based organizations which goes against the islamic guidance and the second pdf is the letter addressed to the honourable justice minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe under the symbol of #strengthenMMDA viewable to the public to go through and make signatures to the said letter consenting that we need to protect our religious rights pertaining to Muslim Personal Law.
We request the Imaams, Trustees of the Jumuah Mosques, Islamic Theologians of Arabic Colleges Community Leaders and the public to support and help us to collect signatures as much as possible and post it with the seal on every signature document of the jumuah masjids to the address below :-
