May 9 attacks: Johnston and Kahandagama named as suspects

Parliamentarian Johnston Fernando and Municipal Councillor Mahinda Kahandagama along with two others have been named as suspects in the case filed over the violent attack on protesters on May 09 in Galle Face and Kollupitiya.

Furthermore, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has filed a B report against former Minister Fernando in the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today (01), naming him as a suspect in the violent attacks.

The Magistrate issued the relevant order based on the said report.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarians Sanath Nishantha and Milan Jayathileka and 11 others have been remanded till 8 June in relation to the unrest.
