Our Ancestors — Preserving a Legacy for Generations
In an age of rapid digital transformation and profound social change, there is a growing need to preserve the memory of those who came before us. The Muslim community of Sri Lanka is blessed with a rich heritage shaped by generations of remarkable men and women whose vision, courage, commitment, wisdom and selfless service made lasting contributions to the advancement of the community and the nation.
Yet, without deliberate efforts to document and preserve their stories, the contributions of these distinguished forebears may gradually fade from public memory and eventually be consigned to the pages of forgotten history.
It is with this noble purpose that the Al Aslaf Forebears Memorial Forum was established,to revive, preserve and celebrate the legacy of prominent Muslim personalities who dedicated their lives to the service of society. Their achievements, sacrifices and enduring values are not merely chapters of the past; they represent a source of inspiration and guidance for present and future generations.
The Forum is committed to chronicling the lives and contributions of these distinguished forebears through carefully researched and published commemorative booklets. These publications serve as mini-encyclopedic records, documenting the remarkable contributions of personalities who served with distinction in fields such as education, politics, religion, spirituality and community development.
To date, the Al Aslaf Forebears Memorial Forum has successfully published and launched a number of commemorative booklets celebrating prominent ancestors. These publications have been presented at commemorative events, including a special programme held at the Postal Department Auditorium, Colombo.
Looking ahead, the Forum hopes to publish and launch two or three such booklets together at each major commemoration, thereby creating a growing archive of Sri Lanka’s Muslim heritage.
This important mission cannot be sustained without the generosity and goodwill of donors, well-wishers and other stakeholders. Their financial and moral support enables the Forum to continue documenting these invaluable legacies for posterity. May Allah Almighty abundantly bless all those who contribute to this noble endeavour with barakah, good health, prosperity and contentment.
A dream does not become a reality through magic; it is realised through sweat, determination, perseverance, and hard work.

Through their collective efforts, the Forum seeks not merely to preserve the memory of our forebears, but to inspire future generations to recognise, respect, and carry forward the legacy of service, sacrifice, and achievement that they so nobly established.
