Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the United People's Alliance and the leader of the opposition, has accused the government of supplying substandard gas-filled vessels to the two countries in recent days and of taking steps to distribute the gas to the market despite the quality control agency's warning not to import and distribute substandard gas.
He was commenting to the media after investigating the damage caused by an explosion of a gas cylinder in a house in the Lunugamvehera Peralahela area.

This act of the government risking the lives of the people by distributing substandard gas to the market is a sinful act of great injustice.
He said the government had not taken any action to compensate the innocent people affected by the gas cylinder explosion across the country.
The opposition leader said that so far many lives have been lost due to gas cylinder explosions and that the government should be held responsible for all this.
