The death of a 3-year-old child named Mohammed Hamdi who went to Ridgeway Arya Hospital for kidney surgery due to a doctor's fault is creating a huge shock among the people of the country and the citizens are paying attention.
Hiru News reported yesterday that the doctor who escaped from his family after having wrong kidney surgery is currently in Australia.
He is Dr. Naveen Wijekon, pediatrician and kidney specialist, who was in clinic in major private hospitals in Colombo, Gampaha and Negombo.
This doctor escaped the country within days after surgery to remove both Hamdi's kidneys.
It has also been confirmed that he is currently attending seminars in the medical profession in Australia.
Dr. Naveen Wijekon will be deported from Australia if a proper complaint is made to the Australian Embassy and the medical council with acceptable evidence about this injustice to the Samdi child.
