"We were handed over to them by the police"-Atrocities in Manipur

As the violence continues in Manipur, a video of two Kuki tribal women being taken naked on the road and harassed has gone viral on the internet.

The BJP won again in the 2022 elections. Byran Singh is the Chief Minister.  

Earlier, the BJP had promised to grant tribal status to the 'Meidei' community, which constitutes 53 per cent, in order to secure majority votes in the 2022 elections.

At that time, tribes including Kuki and Naga protested against this.

In this case, the issue of tribal status turned into an armed conflict between the two parties, Meidei and Kuki, last May. 

This violence,It started on May 3 and has been going on for more than 60 days.In this case, on May 4th, a video of two Kuki tribal women being taken naked on the road and tortured in a district called Kangpokpi near Imphal, went viral on the internet.

Leaders of political parties and the general public condemned the incident, which caused turmoil across the country. 

In this case, the Supreme Court said that using women as a tool for communal riots is a constitutional abuse  reported.

It is also mentioned that making women as instruments of violence and publishing their footage in the media in violation of human rights will never be acceptable. The Central and State Governments have insisted on immediate response regarding the incident and will take up the case tomorrow ,It has also announced that it is investigating.

Meanwhile, a woman who has been sexually assaulted has come forward with shocking information. In this regard, the woman gave an interview to Indian Express, “The police were also present with the mob that attacked our village.

The police picked us up from near the house, took us some distance from the village and left us on the road with the gang. We were handed over to them by the police.” they said.
